Election Information

All elections, unless otherwise noted, are held at the Town Offices located at 7 Brattleboro Road in Leyden. Each year, a Town Caucus is conducted to nominate candidates for local offices. This is followed by the Annual Town Election (ATE), held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in June, in accordance with Massachusetts law.

To appear on the election ballot, a candidate must either be nominated at the caucus or qualify through nomination papers. At the caucus, up to two candidates may be nominated for each office. Candidates who are not nominated at the caucus may still gain ballot access by obtaining nomination papers from the Town Clerk and collecting the required number of certified voter signatures within the established deadlines.

The Town Clerk administers the caucus and election process, including preparing ballots, verifying candidate eligibility, and ensuring compliance with all applicable Massachusetts election laws and regulations.
