The Town of Leyden has an on call/volunteer Fire Department. The Chief and Assistant Chief are appointed by the Select Board. The Fire Department meets for trainings on Tuesday nights at the Fire Station. Fire detection and carbon monoxide installations must be inspected by the Fire Department.

Permit and Inspection Fee Schedule
All of the following are $40.00 per inspection
- Oil Tank/Burner (must be completed with installer on site)
- Propane Tank
- CO2/smoke detectors (sale of home)
- Truck Tank- Transfer tank ( Fire dept does not issue stickers, paper permit only)
- Blasting/Fracking (Roadways/Driveways)
